The Bridge Builders’ “The Way Home” is a biblically-based, Christ-centered 12-step counseling program for small groups. This Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) recommended program ministering to 25-30 inmates per group.These groups meet 2 hours each week for 26 weeks dealing with life’s controlling problems and behavioral issues.
The recidivism rate (return-to-prison rate) for inmates being released who are graduates of the program is approximately 15% compared to a 30% recidivism rate outside of the program.
In preparation for the weekly meeting, each day the participant must complete a lesson in their “The Way Home” manual. There is a large group teaching video, testimonies, small group breakout discussion groups, and prayer. Inmates who complete the program are awarded with a Life Recovery Devotional and Study Bible.
This program is currently offered at the following Michigan facilities:
- Women’s Huron Valley CF in Ypsilanti
- Ionia CF in Ionia
- Bellam Creek CF in Ionia
- Carson City CF in Carson City
- St. Louis CF in St. Louis
